John Casey is Managing Director of Venture Mentors LLC, a network of technology executives providing advisory services to startup companies in the US and overseas. Before launching Venture Mentors in 1997, John spent fifteen years helping several technology startups achieve their sales, marketing, financing, and management goals, and he assisted with several successful company acquisitions. Today he serves on a number of advisory boards, helping companies with venture financing; global sales channels; strategic partnerships; and merger and acquisition (M&A) alternatives.

John was President and CEO of Caucus Systems Inc., a collaboration software company, where he led the company through its first institutional venture capital round, managed its transition to a new business model, and directed its M&A activities. Previously, John was VP of Business Development at Baranof Software, where he was responsible for partner programs, international sales, and M&A activities that led to a successful acquisition of the company. As Director of the Advanced Systems Group at Phoenix Systems, an application development and network integration firm, he managed software development projects for clients such as Microsoft, Lotus, and Novell. He also played a key role in the acquisition of Phoenix Systems by Corporate Software in 1993. Before that, he was Director of Sales and Marketing for Coyne Kalajian Inc., a database software company where he dramatically increased software product sales, helped obtain venture capital, and opened sales offices around the US and overseas.

John holds a Master of Science in Information Technology from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University.
